PharmAdva Challenge
PharmAdva’s MedaCube provides a reliable solution to help individuals take pill-form medications exactly as prescribed by their physicians, enhancing medication adherence through a convenient automated dispenser. had a team of skilled software and hardware engineers, but developing a connected device was a new challenge for them. Ensuring robust security is crucial, especially in medical environments. Geisel Software, with its extensive experience in connected medical devices, was the logical choice to ensure the MedaCube was both secure and compliant.
Solution
On the Device: Geisel Software kick-started the project, enabling PharmAdva’s engineering team to advance their software. Geisel set up the Linux platform on the embedded device and developed all the connected device code, facilitating network communication with a backend web service.
In the Cloud: PharmAdva also enlisted Geisel Software to build a comprehensive cloud-based web service. Geisel designed an aesthetically appealing and user-friendly portal tailored for medical caregivers, the primary users. The portal allows devices to securely interface with a cloud-based server, publishing data and receiving updates.
Results
The portal allows caregivers and loved ones to receive notifications if a patient misses a medication dose or if the device becomes unresponsive, all while ensuring that patient data remains secure and private. This seamless integration of device and cloud services has significantly enhanced medication adherence and security.
